The Airbus H160 is a next-generation medium twin-engine helicopter designed to replace the AS365 and EC155 Dauphin family. Developed as a clean-sheet design, the H160 was unveiled in 2015, achieved its first flight on June 13, 2015, and received EASA certification in July 2020, followed by FAA validation in June 2023. Initial deliveries began in late 2021, marking its entry into service for offshore, HEMS, SAR, and VIP missions.
The H160 introduces advanced engineering features, including a composite airframe, Blue Edge™ rotor blades for noise reduction, and a canted Fenestron® tail rotor for improved efficiency and safety. Its cockpit integrates the Helionix avionics suite, offering enhanced situational awareness and reduced pilot workload, with mission aids such as Rig’N Fly for automated offshore rig approaches.
Powered by two Safran Arrano 1A turboshaft engines, each rated at approximately 1,280 shp, the H160 delivers a cruise speed of about 150 knots, a range of up to 460 NM, and a maximum takeoff weight of 6,050 kg (13,345 lb). Hover ceilings reach 2,835 m IGE, and the maximum operating altitude is 6,096 m, ensuring strong OEI performance for demanding missions.
The cabin offers up to 7.3 m³ (˜276 ft³) of space, seating up to 12 passengers in offshore configurations or 6–10 passengers in ACH160 VIP layouts. Large windows, low vibration levels, and customizable interiors enhance comfort for business and private operators.
