Blackhawk Modifications has taken legacy King Air 200s and vastly improved them by replacing the original Pratt & Whitney PT6A-42 engines with the new PT6A-61 engines. This provides a significant boost in power at altitude and a reduction in fuel flow. Blackhawk says the replacement of the -42 engines will cost about the same as an overhaul to the old engines. The new engines come with a warranty as well.
New Hartzell propellers can be added. The new blades, with squared-off tips, reduce hi-frequency prop noise. The new props are longer with a higher twist to produce more thrust and better airflow into the engines.
Along with the engine upgrade, Blackhawk customers typically add in the Raisbeck EPIC modification.
As of 2010, the Blackhawk XP61 modification was available for the following King Air 200 models: 200, 200C, 200T, 200CT, A200 (C-12A & C-12C), A200C (UC-12B), A200CT (C-12D, FWC-12D, RC-12D, RC-12G, RC-12H), C-12F, C-12R, B200, B200C, B200CT, B200T.
