The Cessna 414 is a pressurized 401. It sits in size and performance between the pressurized 340 and 421. Cessna built 1,070 of the 414/414A between 1978 and 1985. The difference between the 414 and the 414A is the 414s have tip tanks and a short nose, while the 414A is longer, has sealed wings, and has the longer nose from the 421. Two 310 hp Continentals power the 414 series.
The Cessna 414 typically seats seven in executive configuration, or 10 in commuter seating configuration. The 414 is for people who like the carrying capability of a Cessna 401, but need the added flexibility and comfort of pressurization. For those who do not need the cabin class size of the 414, the smaller, pressurized Cessna 340 is a lower cost alternative.
