The Cirrus Vision SF50, also called the Vision Jet, is a single-engine jet designed and produced by Cirrus Aircraft. An aircraft mock-up was unveiled in June 2007 and a prototype was unveiled June 2008. Its maiden flight was in July 2008.
During the height of the economic downturn of 2008, progress slowed considerably. Cirrus co-founder Alan Klapmeier proposed buying the project from the company to speed up its development and produce it under a new company. In April 2012, the new owner CAIGA invested enough in the project to continue production. When July had come in 2012, the prototype had flown 600 hours. A new prototype was created to fly in 2013 for certification testing. The first Vision SF50 was delivered in December 2016.
