The Gulfstream G280 is a super midsize business jet that evolved from the earlier Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) Galaxy and the Gulfstream G200 platform, representing a significant redesign and modernization effort. Initially developed by Israel Aerospace Industries and later acquired by Gulfstream Aerospace, the G280 integrates cutting-edge aerodynamics, engines, and avionics to compete in the demanding super midsize market.
The aircraft’s development began in the mid-2000s, with its first flight taking place in December 2009. It entered production and was officially introduced in 2012, with production continuing to the present day. The G280 was designed to offer increased range, speed, and cabin comfort compared to its predecessors.
Powered by two Honeywell HTF7250G turbofan engines, each delivering 7,624 pounds of thrust, the G280 achieves a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.84 and a maximum range of 3,700 nautical miles, enabling non-stop flights such as New York to London or Dubai to Mumbai. The aircraft features a new supercritical wing, improved landing gear, and an advanced Honeywell Primus Epic avionics suite, enhancing performance and safety.
The cabin measures 25 feet in length, providing a spacious environment with a flat floor and stand-up headroom. Typical seating accommodates up to 10 passengers in a flexible business layout, with options for club seating, divans, and conference areas.
With its combination of transcontinental range, efficient performance, and Gulfstream’s renowned build quality, the G280 serves as a versatile platform ideal for corporate travel and private operations, striking a balance between midsize agility and long-range capability.
