The Gulfstream G500 is a clean-sheet, next-generation business jet that launched a new era for Gulfstream when it was officially unveiled in 2014 alongside its longer-range sibling, the G600. It represents a major redesign from the earlier G450 series, featuring an all-new airframe, wing, cockpit, and propulsion system.
First flown in 2015, the G500 entered service in September 2018, signaling Gulfstream’s commitment to high-speed efficiency and advanced avionics. At its core is a newly designed swept, supercritical wing with optimized aerodynamics for both high- and low-speed performance. The aircraft is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW814GA turbofans, each producing 15,144 pounds of thrust, contributing to a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.925.
Structurally, the G500 features a high-strength aluminum fuselage with extensive use of composite materials in control surfaces and fairings. Gulfstream also introduced its Symmetry Flight Deck™, built around active control sidesticks, touchscreen interfaces, and enhanced situational awareness systems—setting a new standard in flight deck ergonomics and safety.
Performance figures include a maximum range of 5,300 nautical miles (at Mach 0.85), enabling nonstop flights such as New York to Istanbul or Los Angeles to London. The cabin is 41 feet 6 inches long (excluding baggage), and the total cabin volume is approximately 1,715 cubic feet, designed to accommodate up to 19 passengers in various configurations.
Interior innovations include a flat floor, 14 large panoramic windows, and a low cabin altitude of 4,850 ft at FL510, ensuring superior passenger comfort. Advanced soundproofing and high-speed Ka-band connectivity enhance long-range productivity and luxury.
The G500 is positioned as a high-performance, technologically advanced jet for global executives, offering transoceanic range, rapid cruise speeds, and cutting-edge avionics in a mid-to-large cabin size—bridging the gap between midsize agility and intercontinental capability.
