The Mooney M20J has its roots in the M20 of 1955. However, the design has undergone a multitude of changes since then. The M20 line includes the Mooney 201 M20J (MSE – a.k.a. Allegro).
Most Mooneys have two things in common: speed and efficiency. The M20J has had more equipment updates than name changes. In 1991, the MSE was introduced with the M20J’s highest gross weight. While the Mooney 201 is the most popular of the M20Js, the last designation was as the Allegro.
A 200 hp Lycoming powers the M20J. Seating for four is snug and it is really 2+2 seating. The M20J entered production in 1977 and ended production in 1998.
