The Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk is an international variant of the proven UH-60 Black Hawk platform, manufactured by PZL Mielec, a Lockheed Martin company based in Poland. Developed to provide a cost-effective, export-ready utility helicopter, the S-70i retains the rugged design, performance, and multi-mission flexibility of its U.S. military counterpart while offering updated avionics and mission systems tailored to international operators.
The S-70i features a dual digital flight control system, advanced glass cockpit with four multi-function displays, and modern navigation and communication systems. Powered by twin General Electric T700-GE-701D turboshaft engines, it delivers strong performance in both high-hot and maritime environments. The aircraft supports a wide range of roles, including troop transport, cargo lift, search and rescue, medevac, and disaster relief.
The S-70i has a maximum cruise speed of 157 knots and a mission radius of approximately 280 nautical miles, depending on configuration and payload. It has a maximum takeoff weight of 22,000 pounds and accommodates up to 13 troops or passengers, excluding crew. The cabin offers a total volume of approximately 293 cubic feet, allowing for flexible mission-specific configurations. Optional equipment includes external rescue hoists, fast rope systems, armoring, and FLIR turrets for enhanced situational awareness.
First delivered in 2010, the S-70i remains in production for military and government operators worldwide. Its robust airframe, modern avionics, and operational adaptability make it a proven platform for demanding environments and high-tempo missions.
