History: Texas Turbines has taken the workhorse Cessna Caravan and swapped its Pratt & Whitney PT6A-114A, 675 shp engine with a Honeywell TPE 331-12JR, 900 shp engine. Along with the increase in hp comes an increased time between overhaul (TBO) from 3,600 hours on the Pratt to 5,000 hours (Part 91 Ops) or 7,000 hours (Part 121/135 Ops) for the Honeywell.

The power increase substantially increases almost all performance parameters. Maximum cruise speed is increased 13 percent, range is increased 9 percent and takeoff distance is reduced 23 percent. Climb performance is also significantly improved.
