The Model 695A was also known as the Commander 1000. This was the largest of the Aero Commanders and came standard with the Honeywell (Garrett) TPE 331-10 engines. The Commander 1000 was produced from 1981 to 1985. Today, the twin-engine Commander series is supported by Twin Commander Aircraft of Arlington, WA.
While the Aero Commanders were not the fastest turboprops in their class, they had a reputation for being well built, stable, and comfortable. With the high wing, entering and exiting the aircraft is easy for passengers and they also enjoy excellent downward visibility. The Commander 1000 had almost 3.5 feet of extra length, allowing for a small, aft-lavatory to be installed.
