The Airbus ACJ318 is the executive jet variant of the Airbus A318, the smallest member of the A320 commercial airliner family. Developed as an ultra-spacious, low-utilization corporate aircraft, the ACJ318 offers a widebody-style cabin experience within a narrowbody platform. Airbus launched the ACJ318 program in the early 2000s, with the aircraft completing its first flight on January 15, 2002 and entering service later that year. Production continued until 2013, with a limited number of VIP-configured units delivered.
The ACJ318 is powered by two CFM56-5B or Pratt & Whitney PW6000 turbofan engines, each offering up to 23,300 pounds of thrust. This powerplant combination allows for a maximum cruise speed of approximately Mach 0.82 (around 470 knots) and a typical range of 4,200 nautical miles with additional fuel tanks installed. The aircraft has a maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) of approximately 150,000 pounds, depending on configuration, and requires longer runway lengths than traditional business jets due to its airliner heritage.
What sets the ACJ318 apart is its ultra-wide and tall cabin, offering a total volume of approximately 5,430 cubic feet. The aircraft can typically seat up to 19 passengers in a fully customized layout that includes lounge areas, conference spaces, private bedrooms, and lavatories. The generous cross-section allows for full stand-up headroom throughout, with a cabin width of 12.1 feet and a height of 7.4 feet.
Although no longer in production, the ACJ318 remains in service globally as a VIP charter platform and government transport aircraft. It offers unmatched space and customization potential within the smallest and most airport-accessible member of the ACJ family.
