The Dash 8-Q300 is a 50-passenger regional turboprop. In 1985, De Havilland initiated the stretch version of the -100 to accommodate up to 50 passengers in airliner configuration. They also increased the size of the galley and lavatory in comparison to earlier models. Two Pratt & Whitney PW 123B engines power the Dash 8-Q300.
The “Q” series incorporates Bombardier’s “Quiet” technology, known as the Noise and Vibration Suppression (NVS) system. The vibration and noise generated by the aircraft is actively monitored and partially cancelled out by counter-vibrations generated by on-board systems. This is supposed to lead to jet quiet levels at turboprop prices. The Dash 8-Q300 offers a large stand-up cabin with the flexibility of payload and range of other Dash 8s.
